Bid Writer/ Proposal Lead - London 2/3 days a week - up to £80K
Exalto consulting are currently recruiting for a permanent Senior Bid Writer / Proposal Lead to work for a fantastic client, with hybrid working on site in London 2/3 days a week. This role pays a basic salary of £65,000-£80,000.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced bid writer to take the pen on these responses, working alongside the practice leads and engagement directors who own the win strategy.
Experience Required for the Role:
- Proven experience holding the pen on complex bids or tenders, ideally in public sector or heavily regulated markets (financial services, defence or similar).
- A confident, curious approach to drawing insight out of busy experts and turning it into a compelling narrative.
- Comfortable shaping a response structure independently, with minimal hand-holding.
- Able to juggle more than one deadline-driven bid at a time without dropping quality.
- Excellent written English and a sharp eye for detail: compliance, consistency, formatting.
- Strong instincts for people and relationships, equally credible with senior leaders, busy specialists and partner organisations.
- A commercial mindset: real interest in the deal behind the document, not just the document itself.
- A genuine drive to make our AI tooling better, not just use it: comfortable pushing prompts, workflows and knowledge assets forward so the tools take on more of the heavy lifting over time.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
