Big Data Architect
We are hiring a Big Data Architect to join our central London team and lead the design and execution of a next-generation, cloud-native enterprise data ecosystem. In this role, you will serve as the primary technical authority, transforming complex legacy data estates into high-performance architectures (Data Lakehouse/Data Mesh) that power global broking operations, dynamic risk management, and advanced AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical authority for the data platform, bridging the gap between high-level architectural strategy and hands-on data engineering delivery.
- Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models that accurately reflect complex insurance workflows, spanning risk placement, policy administration, claims management, and reinsurance.
- Architect highly available, robust data ingestion and integration pipelines (batch, streaming, and API-based) connecting diverse market systems.
- Dictate the technical direction and build out data platforms using modern cloud-native technologies, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Partner directly with business subject matter experts, software engineers, and analytics teams to translate broking requirements into technical solutions that deliver immediate value.
- Establish and enforce strict data governance, source-to-target mapping, data quality, and security standards (including GDPR compliance).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
