About the Role
Few things will shape this generation and the next more than technology and AI. What would you do with an insider’s perspective?
Inside Track is a UK non-profit building confidential movements of senior professionals inside powerful industries.
People working inside major companies often understand things that are difficult to see from the outside: how decisions really get made, where influence sits, which incentives shape behaviour and why apparently sensible changes can be difficult to achieve.
Inside Track creates protected spaces where experienced professionals can share that perspective, explore the cultures, structures and incentives shaping their industries, and identify where change may be possible.
It then helps turn that insight into carefully judged action with the people and institutions able to make a difference.
The work is constructive and industry-level. It is not about attacking individual companies or asking people to disclose confidential information.
The Opportunity
Inside Track is looking for someone who understands major technology companies from the inside and wants to use that understanding differently.
You may have spent the last few years in public policy, government affairs, trust and safety, product policy, responsible AI, responsible innovation, sustainability, social impact, DEI, external affairs, partnerships or another outward-facing role within a major technology company.
You understand how these organisations work. You have seen how commercial, political and societal pressures interact, how decisions get made and why change can be difficult even when there is broad agreement that something could work better.
This role is about putting that understanding to work.
- You will lead strategic partnerships and external engagement across Inside Track’s work on Big Tech and AI.
- You will work with technology insiders and build trusted relationships with industry leaders and senior figures across government, investment, civil society, academia, journalism and the law.
- These are people who have built and led companies, shaped policy, allocated capital, researched emerging technologies, influenced public debate and led organisations seeking to make a difference. People with real influence over how technology develops, how it is governed and the kind of future we are creating for this generation and the next.
- Your role will not simply be to maintain those relationships. You will help decide where Inside Track should engage, who matters, what different people need to understand and where an insider perspective could unlock something useful.
The questions are practical:
- Where does influence really sit?
- Which people or institutions could shift an issue?
- What can people inside the industry see that others cannot?
- What would someone need to understand in order to act?
- When is a private conversation more useful than a public intervention?
- Where could the right relationship, insight or intervention make a meaningful difference?

Who This Could Suit
We are particularly interested in people who have spent meaningful time inside a major global technology company.
You might have worked in public policy, government affairs, trust and safety, responsible AI, responsible innovation, sustainability, social impact, DEI, corporate or external affairs, strategic partnerships, or another role that has brought you into meaningful contact with government, NGOs, academia, investors or wider civil society.
You do not need to have become disillusioned with the technology industry.
The strongest person may believe deeply in what technology and AI can make possible, respect many of the people building it and understand the commercial realities involved, while still being curious about the wider consequences of an industry with extraordinary influence.
There is no single view of what the future should look like, and this role is not about arriving with one.
What matters is that you understand the industry beyond its products, are interested in the questions it raises for society and can work intelligently with people who bring very different perspectives.
We would also consider exceptional people from consulting, law, investment, technology policy or civil society who have spent substantial time working with and understanding major technology companies.
This is not a general technology role. Experience limited to a generic software business, technology sales or simply an enthusiasm for the sector will not be enough.

- clear and persuasive written and verbal communication
- the ability to move between strategic thinking and detailed follow-through
- comfort operating without a complete playbook
- warmth, curiosity, resilience, high conviction and low ego
- a genuine desire to use your experience constructively on questions that matter

This is an opportunity to spend your time thinking seriously about some of the most interesting and consequential questions of our time, alongside people who understand different parts of the system unusually well.
Many of the people you will work with will have reached positions of real influence and still be curious enough to ask a bigger question: how can I use what I know, the position I have reached and the relationships I have built to contribute beyond the boundaries of my own institution?
You will help bring those perspectives together. You will ask good questions, build trusted relationships and work out where greater understanding, the right connection or a carefully judged intervention might make a difference.
There are relatively few jobs where an understanding of how some of the world’s most influential companies work can be used this independently.
And relatively few where, simply by doing the job well, you will build relationships with such an accomplished and thoughtful group of people.
The work is intellectually demanding, practical and human. It asks you to understand systems and power, but also people: what they care about, what might move them and how trust can create the conditions for change.
Inside Track is still young, but it is not starting from scratch. It has real momentum, philanthropic backing and a model already being put into practice across multiple industries. There is no complete playbook, which means the person joining will have genuine scope to shape what comes next.
For the right person, it is a rare opportunity to combine intellectual curiosity, extraordinary people and work that could genuinely matter.
Key Details
- Salary £38,000 to £50,000 FTE, depending on relevant experience and pro-rated for part-time working
- Indicative salary points £38,000 for up to three years of relevant experience; £42,000 from four; and £50,000 from six
- Working pattern 3 to 5 days per week
- Location UK-based, with remote working and some London / in-person meetings
