Billing Agent

📍 Remote | Part-Time $20/hour (6-month contract)

🌟 What You'll Do

As a Billing Agent, you'll play a critical role in supporting our patients and clinical teams by ensuring insurance and billing information is complete before appointments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contacting patients by phone, email, and text to collect missing insurance information
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits using Waystar, Availity, insurance portals, and other payer resources
  • Confirming network participation, behavioral health coverage, and authorization requirements
  • Communicating directly with insurance carriers when additional information is needed
  • Documenting all insurance verification details accurately within patient records
  • Assisting commercial patients with adding payment methods and completing Financial Responsibility Forms before their first appointment
  • Delivering outstanding customer service while helping patients navigate insurance and billing questions

You'll be successful by:

  • Responding to insurance information requests within 24 hours
  • Maintaining a 98%+ accuracy rate when verifying insurance benefits
  • Verifying eligibility for 100% of scheduled daily appointments
  • Providing a patient experience that earns 90%+ satisfaction ratings
  • Keeping patients informed during calls and minimizing hold times

  • Exceptional customer service mindset with genuine empathy for patients
  • Highly organized with outstanding attention to detail

  • Results-driven with a sense of urgency and ownership
  • Comfortable adapting in a fast-growing healthcare organization

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Customer Support, Customer Success, Account Management, Relationship Management, healthcare operations, or a similar role
  • Experience working with insurance verification and patient billing processes
  • Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 proficiency
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills
  • Experience with Waystar, Availity, eClinicalWorks, or NICE inContact is a plus
  • Accurate data entry and documentation skills
