Aberdeen plc is one of Europe’s largest investment companies, and we are built on a long-standing culture of caring about the future and making a positive impact. Together we invest for a better future. We do it to make a difference to the lives of our clients and customers, our employees, society, and our shareholders. Our business is structured around three distinct areas focused on our clients' changing needs: Aberdeen Investments, Aberdeen Adviser, and interactive investor.

As Billing Lead, you will help bring “Invest in your tomorrow” to life by leading accurate, well-controlled billing operations that support stronger outcomes for our clients and our business.

About the Department

Finance Operations is a core part of Aberdeen’s Finance function, delivering services across Record to Report, Billing, Banking, Accounts Payable and Supplier Relationship Management. Within Group Financial Control, the team provides accurate financial outputs, strong controls and valuable insight, working with colleagues in Edinburgh and an outsourced partner in Chennai. Billing supports revenue recognition, regulatory compliance and the integrity of Accounts Receivable balances, helping enable our clients to be better investors.

About the Role

This Billing Lead role is a high-impact leadership opportunity within Finance Operations in Edinburgh. You will oversee invoicing, collections, the Billing Helpdesk, controls, risk management and continuous improvement. Leading seven Edinburgh-based direct reports and an offshore billing team of around 20 colleagues, you will build capability and ensure accurate, timely and compliant outcomes. You will own aged debt, cash collection, data integrity and balance sheet substantiation, while representing Billing at risk, audit and governance forums. The role offers the chance to invest in your tomorrow by shaping a scalable operating model, embedding automation and strengthening a high-performance culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Billing Operations across invoicing, collections and helpdesk activity, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant outcomes.
  • Oversee complex fee calculations, including management fees, recharges, investment management agreement fees, performance fees and rebates.
  • Own aged debt and cash collection performance, reducing overdue balances and improving cash flow.
  • Lead the Billing control environment, ensuring regulatory compliance, risk management, audit readiness, data integrity and robust balance sheet substantiation.
  • Drive the Billing change agenda through process improvement, automation, standardisation and technology-enabled efficiency.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
