Billing Manager / Team Lead

Around £50,000 + Personal Commission + Team Bonus

Monument, London

You’ve proved you can bill. The next move should give you more control, not just a bigger target.

You might already be the person people come to for advice. You help newer consultants, steady the team when things get difficult and probably have a few opinions about how things could be done better.

But unless someone actually gives you the authority to do something with that experience, you’re still just billing somebody else’s way.

This is a genuine player-manager role.

You’ll keep your own client relationships and personal commission, but you’ll also take responsibility for developing a London BD team and influencing how it grows. It could suit an established Managing Consultant, or a strong Principal Consultant who’s ready to make management official.

And you won’t be expected to manage a team, win every client and somehow resource every vacancy yourself.

There’s an established delivery operation of around 20–25 people, organised by region and skill set. They join qualification calls, source candidates, manage processes, offers and aftercare, while you and the London team concentrate on winning and developing client relationships.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The business has specialised in financial trading and trading technology recruitment since 2017, particularly FX, with placements across commercial, technology, compliance, finance, operations and executive positions. It reports more than 1,000 placements across 32 countries.

You’ll be based in Monument four days a week, with Wednesdays working from home. The management style is described as relatively light-touch for experienced people, without rigid call-count or call-time KPIs. There are also opportunities to attend FX and fintech events in places such as Cyprus and Dubai.

Most importantly, there’s somewhere for this to go.

The business already has separate progression routes for successful individual billers and people leaders, with senior leadership moving towards wider team development, commercial responsibility and ultimately strategic growth. The exact milestones for this appointment will be agreed rather than pretending there’s a guaranteed promotion date.

What You’ll Need:

  • You’ll need a strong recruitment billing background and to be comfortable winning and developing your own clients.
  • Experience within FX, fintech, financial services or a related specialist recruitment market would clearly be useful, but the brief focuses primarily on your billing record, leadership experience or potential, and ability to work effectively with a separate delivery function.

  • Light-touch KPI approach for experienced hires

If you’ve reached the point where being a good biller isn’t enough anymore, this is worth a conversation.

You don’t need to spend Sunday updating your CV either. Send me an old one or your LinkedIn profile and we can work out the rest later.
