Role Overview
Our client, a US Law firm, has a London office established in 1972, serving as the second-largest office of the Firm. It provides English law advice and handles cross-border European and cross-continental transactions. The office caters to major corporate, financial institution, investment banking, private equity, government, sovereign wealth, individual, and family clients across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Gulf regions, Central Asia, and beyond.
The firm is seeking a Billing Manager to support financial performance by delivering an efficient, commercially focused billing service.
Responsibilities
- Shared responsibility for the revenue lifecycle of the London Office.
- With support from the billing team, assist Partners with all aspects of the billing lifecycle.
- Ensuring compliance with VAT regulations, the SRA Accounts Rules, anti-money laundering regulations, and Firm policies.
- Establishing a cyclical approach to billing and WIP management, including regular meetings with Partners to review WIP and accounts receivable balances.
- Producing financial and statistical information for Office Managing Partner, Administrative Director, Senior Manager – European Finance, Director of Billing & Collections, and Partners.
- Working with the billing team to ensure timely processing and follow-up.
- Assisting with the collection of accounts receivable invoices, including following up with partners and clients to ensure timely payment.
- Communicating regularly with the Senior Manager – European Finance to report on departmental performance.
- Developing and maintaining strong internal relationships with partners and fee earners to communicate departmental targets.
- Holding regular meetings with the billing team to review departmental performance and ensure that targets are communicated and achieved.
- Working with the Senior Manager – European Finance to train and develop the team and assist with appraisal and recruitment processes.

Candidate Profile
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong IT skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Experience of using Elite 3E, Aderant, or similar legal accounting systems.
- Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to manage and prioritize own workload to meet deadlines.
- Proven ability in developing people and managing a team.
- Expert knowledge of UK and EU VAT regulations and SRA Accounts Rules.
- Experience of working with foreign currencies and various e-billing systems, including BillBlast.
- A-Level education or equivalent.
- Five to ten years of experience within a legal or professional services environment.
- Previous team management or supervisory experience.
