About the role
This is a hands-on, “player-coach” role, and an opportunity to grow with the organisation.
We are centralising our billing function in Reading as we expand into new clinics. In the first year or two, you will be close to the detail: learning how healthcare billing works, billing alongside the team, owning credit control, and turning how we bill today into clear, repeatable processes we can roll out across new sites. As the team and the number of clinics grow, the role grows with it — moving steadily from hands-on billing towards leading and developing a larger team.
Private healthcare billing experience isn’t essential — you’ll learn the technical side here from experienced colleagues and our internal documentation. We are looking for someone with solid billing experience, the appetite and aptitude to lead people, and the instinct to improve and systematise how things are done.
If you want to settle into a purely hands-off management job from day one, this isn’t it. If you want to learn an industry, build something scalable, and grow into a broader leadership role as we expand, it is.
What you’ll do
Billing delivery (hands-on, especially years 1–2)
- Bill accurately and on time for insured and self-pay patients, working alongside the team.
- Own credit control across the Reading clinics.
- Learn the technicalities of insurer billing and tariff structures, supported by experienced colleagues and our finance documentation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
