Billing Specialist

£340.00 per day via umbrella company

We are seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to join a fast-paced and dynamic team. This role is ideal for an analytical and detail-oriented finance professional who has strong experience managing billing operations, customer accounts, and financial data.

You will play a key role in ensuring accurate invoicing, resolving billing queries, maintaining financial records, and supporting operational excellence across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, prepare, and process invoices, ensuring accuracy and completeness of billing information.
  • Manage a large portfolio of customer accounts and monitor outstanding invoices.
  • Follow up on overdue payments and support timely cash collection.
  • Respond to customer and stakeholder queries relating to billing and payments.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, disputes, and billing issues.
  • Maintain accurate billing records, reports, and financial documentation.
  • Support reporting and analysis activities through effective data management.
  • Collaborate with finance, operations, and wider business teams to improve billing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, controls, and procedures.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience in billing, accounts receivable, finance operations, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience managing customer accounts and invoice processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.
  • Strong numerical, computational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience investigating billing discrepancies and resolving financial queries.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and deliver results with minimal supervision.

Desirable Background

  • Degree or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Experience within a fast-moving commercial or product-led environment.
  • Background in mathematics, economics, finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
