Job Description
Under the guidance of the Building Information Manager (BIM Manager), the post holder will provide technical and administrative support to the BIM Manager and the Capital Projects Team in the delivery of Building Information Management activities.
The role supports the day-to-day operation of BIM processes, ensuring that project and asset information is accurate, up to date, and managed in accordance with university standards and relevant information management frameworks, including ISO 19650. The focus of the role is on supporting model creation, data validation, and document control rather than leading BIM strategy development.
The post holder will:
- Create, edit, and update CAD drawings
- Assist in converting design outputs into appropriate formats for technical reviews and presentation materials
- Support the verification of design and asset data provided by design and construction teams
- Validate and update model information following maintenance or replacement works undertaken by the University of Portsmouth Estates Team
- Maintain accurate as-built drawings and 3D models that reflect current asset conditions
The position requires proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks, with strong skills in 3D modelling. The post holder will support the Building Information Manager in managing and updating building information, as well as coordinating space-related moves, changes, and updates to meet the evolving needs of the University and its stakeholders.

The post holder will support project delivery from initial concept through to completion, ensuring accurate documentation, data integrity, and effective coordination among multiple stakeholders.
The role also involves:
- Maintaining and updating key project documentation, including Design Guides, technical specifications, and procedural records
- Supporting the procurement process by assisting with order placement and managing project data for both live and completed projects
Whilst there is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days each week, hybrid working is available for this role.

Salary Information:
New appointments will routinely be made to the entry spine point (minimum) for the advertised grade, from where the individual will (in addition to receiving annual cost-of-living-related increases) progress through the pay range to the maximum for the grade, within a reasonable timeframe. This ensures fairness, consistency and transparency in our pay structures. A higher starting salary or market supplement may be available for a truly exceptional candidate when circumstances fully justify a departure from our normal policy.
