BIM Engineer: Design/Layout Integration
GBP 28.50/hr (Inside IR35)
Coventry (hybrid potential)
12 Months (maternity cover)
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Design Integration, Layout System Integration BIM Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. This role involves supporting the delivery of BIM:enabled facility integration activities from concept through to project completion, ensuring compliance with defined standards, processes, and digital engineering methodologies. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving innovation and efficiency across our programmes, contributing to the continuous improvement of standards and processes.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate federated model reviews, design integration, and clash detection processes.
- Support the implementation of Common Data Environment (CDE), digital asset management, and digital twin information management processes.
- Apply BIM methodologies and Layout System Integration processes across projects.
- Ensure compliance with established BIM standards and digital workflows.
- Develop and maintain 4D simulation models and digital rehearsals for installation planning and logistics reviews.
- Conduct reality capture and Scan:to:BIM activities, including LiDAR scanning and point cloud processing.
- Participate in cross:functional design reviews to ensure integration readiness and design assurance.
- Deliver project outputs in line with programme timing and gateway requirements.
- Support the deployment and adoption of emerging digital engineering technologies and innovative workflows.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety requirements and governance processes.

Qualifications
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience with BIM, CAD, and digital engineering toolsets relevant to facility and manufacturing design.
- Proven track record in 3D model coordination, federated model reviews, and layout development.
- Strong understanding of BIM methodologies, Common Data Environment (CDE) principles, and digital engineering workflows.
- Experience in production process flow analysis and problem:solving within complex technical environments.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse stakeholders.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem:solving.
- Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.
Desirable
- Experience within an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with digital engineering platforms such as Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and Verity.
- Knowledge of Scan:to:BIM workflows, LiDAR scanning, and point cloud modelling.
- Understanding of BIM maturity levels, ISO 19650 standards, and digital twin methodologies.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction, Architecture, Digital Engineering, or a related discipline.

Day:to:Day
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of design and layout systems.
- Conduct design reviews and clash detection to identify and resolve potential issues.
- Develop and coordinate facility layouts using approved digital toolsets.
- Perform reality capture activities and validate models using tools like Navisworks and Revit.
- Support the creation of 4D simulations and digital rehearsals to enhance project delivery.
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.
- Contribute to lessons learned activities and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Additional Information
This role is on a contract basis and is Inside IR35.
The role is for a 12 month period covering maternity leave.
