Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic BIM Modeller to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
What you'll be doing
The role will focus on the production, development and coordination of detailed building services models, with a particular emphasis on HVAC systems. Working closely with the BIM Manager, engineering teams and supply chain partners, the BIM Modeller will be responsible for producing accurate, coordinated models and associated information in line with project requirements and agreed BIM standards. The successful candidate will have strong practical experience using Autodesk Revit within an MEP or building services environment. They will also be familiar with Autodesk Common Data Environment platforms, including Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360 and Autodesk Forma, and have an understanding of BS EN ISO 19650 principles and workflows. Experience within HVAC, mechanical building services or a related engineering environment would be highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and develop coordinated BIM models using Autodesk Revit
- Model building services systems with a particular focus on HVAC, ductwork and associated mechanical services
- Develop models from engineering information, design drawings, specifications and mark-ups
- Produce accurate plans, sections, elevations, schedules and other drawings directly from coordinated Revit models
- Work closely with engineers and designers to ensure models accurately reflect the agreed design intent
- Support multidisciplinary model coordination and help identify and resolve clashes and spatial coordination issues
- Update models following design changes, coordination reviews and engineering comments
- Maintain model accuracy, consistency and compliance with agreed project BIM standards
- Follow project modelling standards, naming conventions, information requirements and agreed BS EN ISO 19650 workflows
- Work within Autodesk Common Data Environment platforms, including Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360 and Autodesk Forma
- Upload, share and manage model information in accordance with agreed project workflows and information status requirements
- Work closely with the BIM Manager to support model reviews, audits and information exchanges
- Liaise with internal engineering teams, supply chain partners and Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick’s offshore BIM modelling team to support coordinated model delivery
- Support the preparation and maintenance of federated models
- Respond to model review comments and coordination issues and incorporate agreed changes into project models
- Support clash detection and coordination activities, including the resolution of issues identified through model reviews
- Develop and maintain Revit families, parameters and project content where required
- Ensure required asset information and model metadata are correctly incorporated into BIM deliverables
- Support the production of models and information required for construction, installation and project handover
- Carry out model quality checks before information is shared or issued
- Contribute to the continued development and consistent application of BIM modelling standards across Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick

Who we're looking for
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience working as a BIM Modeller, BIM Technician, Revit Technician or similar role within an engineering or construction environment
- Strong practical experience using Autodesk Revit
- Experience modelling MEP or building services systems
- Good understanding of HVAC systems and the ability to model ductwork, equipment and associated building services accurately
- Experience producing coordinated models and drawings from Revit
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, mark-ups and design information
- Experience working with multidisciplinary models and resolving coordination issues
- Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360
- Understanding of Common Data Environment workflows and controlled information sharing
- Familiarity with BS EN ISO 19650 and its application to BIM and information management workflows
- Understanding of model federation, clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination
- Ability to work accurately to agreed BIM standards, modelling requirements and project procedures
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, BIM teams and supply chain partners
- Good attention to detail and a practical approach to resolving modelling and coordination issues
- Ability to manage priorities and deliver modelling activities against agreed project programmes
Desirable Experience
- Strong background in mechanical building services and HVAC design or installation
- Experience modelling complex ductwork systems, plantrooms and mechanical equipment
- Experience working on major infrastructure, energy, utilities, industrial or complex engineering projects
- Practical experience using Autodesk Forma
- Experience using Navisworks for model review and clash detection
- Experience working with Autodesk Construction Cloud Model Coordination
- Experience creating and managing Revit families and shared parameters
- Experience working with structured asset information and model metadata
- Familiarity with COBie, IFC and Uniclass
- Experience working with remote or offshore BIM modelling teams
- Understanding of fabrication, installation and construction requirements for MEP systems
- Relevant BIM, building services, engineering or construction qualification
