Locum Biomedical Scientist – Biochemistry
We are seeking an experienced Locum Biomedical Scientist to join our Biochemistry department. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled BMS to bring their expertise to a busy, well-equipped laboratory.
Pay Rate: £34 – £36 per hour
Role Requirements
Applicants must be able to integrate into our shift system within 4 weeks of starting and must have hands-on experience with the following analytical equipment and IT systems:
- Roche cobas c8000, inclusive of:
- p471/612 pre-analytics
- ISE
- c702
- e801
- p501 post-analytics
- Tosoh G11
- Sebia Capillarys
- Sebia Hydrasys
- Northstar Scientific BIO-UV Spectrophotometer
- Advanced Instruments Osmo1
- Roche navify Lab Ops (previously cobas Infinity)
- Ideagen IQM

About the Role
As a Biomedical Scientist in Biochemistry, you will be responsible for the analysis, validation and authorisation of patient results, troubleshooting and maintaining analytical platforms, and contributing to the smooth running of a full shift rota. You will work closely with the wider laboratory team to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of results, supporting excellent patient care.

What We're Looking For
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
- Proven experience working with the equipment and IT systems listed above
- Ability to work flexibly across a shift pattern, including participation within 4 weeks of start
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and patient safety
- Good communication and teamworking skills
