Role Overview
We are seeking a Bioinformatician / Senior Bioinformatician to develop and deploy robust data analysis and statistical workflows within a fast-paced and growing proteomics-based HealthTech startup.
This role will involve working with the Bioinformatics team and laboratory scientists to investigate and interpret novel and existing data, including internal and external data sources, as well as prototyping novel data analysis solutions for R&D purposes.
The successful candidate will report to the Director of Bioinformatics and work closely with laboratory scientists, bioinformaticians, and across disciplines to deliver results and findings in a clear and accurate manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate across teams to provide tailored bioinformatics solutions for the interrogation and interpretation of proteomics data.
- Support the running of bioinformatics workflows and pipelines for processing high volumes of data (TBs/week).
- Identify improvements and new solutions to bioinformatics workflows and processes.
- Document analysis workflows and statistical methods for long-term reproducibility of analysis results.

Essential experience
- A PhD, MSc or equivalent qualification in Bioinformatics or relevant work experience.
- Proven hands-on experience analysing large-scale biological datasets including proteomics/transcriptomics/genomics.
- Comfortable with production-quality, tested, modular Python and contributing to collaborative projects.
- Experience documenting analysis workflows including writing SOPs, and preparing reports for clear communication of bioinformatic methods and results.
- Knowledge of version control and deployment practices including Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and controlled releases.
- Experience with Docker and workflow management tools such as Snakemake / Nextflow.
Nice to have
- Proven track record of analysing DIA proteomics data with tools including DIA-NN.
- Experience in machine learning model development and validation.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS / Azure / GCP.
- Experience building and maintaining databases and dashboards (R Shiny / Python Dash) for enabling lab scientists to view and interrogate results.
- Experience working with data in a regulated environment including compliance with UK GDPR and US HIPAA.
