🚀 Hiring: Data Scientist, Research – Genomics

Client: A leading global AI research and technology organization, at the forefront of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computational biology research.

Location: Kings Cross, London

Length of contract: 6-month contract

Work hours: 40 Hours/Week

We’re looking for an experienced Data Scientist / Computational Biologist / Bioinformatics Scientist to join Google DeepMind in London.

This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on genomic data processing experience, particularly single-cell and cross-species genomics, combined with strong Python/programming and data-at-scale skills.

  • Process and analyse large-scale genomic datasets using Python and bioinformatics tools.
  • Build and improve pipelines for genomic and single-cell data.
  • Work with scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, and cross-species datasets.
  • Prepare and process data for ML training and analysis.
  • Work with large datasets across HPC/cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to solve complex data and computational problems.

Key requirements

  • Strong experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Genomics.
  • Excellent Python skills and experience with tools such as Scanpy, AnnData, pandas, pysam.
  • Hands-on experience with genomic formats such as FASTQ, BAM, VCF, and h5ad.
  • Experience with tools such as STAR, BWA, GATK, samtools, or bedtools.
  • Strong practical experience with single-cell genomics and/or cross-species genomics.
  • Good understanding of functional genomics, gene regulation, and/or chromatin biology.
  • Experience processing large-scale genomic data on HPC or cloud platforms.
