Band 7 Haematology Biomedical Scientist – Locum
Location: West Wales
We are seeking an experienced, HCPC-registered Band 6 Biomedical Scientist to join the Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion departments at a hospital in West Wales, on a locum basis.
Shift Pattern:
- Routine days: 9:00am to 5:00pm
- Long days: 9:00am to 9:00pm
- Night shifts: 9:00pm to 9:00am
About the Role:
The successful candidate will work across all three core disciplines: Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion, providing a high-quality diagnostic service. You'll be expected to work autonomously, applying sound scientific judgement while following departmental procedures and national guidelines.

Essential Requirements:
- HCPC registration (current and valid)
- Proven experience at Band 6 level or above in a Haematology laboratory setting
- Confident, hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting:
- Siemens Advia analysers (Haematology)
- Werfen TOPS analysers (Coagulation)
- Ortho Swift analysers (Blood Transfusion)
- Sound working knowledge of relevant departmental SOPs, quality standards and safety guidelines
- Ability to work flexibly across rotational shift patterns, including nights
