Job Opportunity at Royal Surrey County Hospital

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual with laboratory experience to join the Blood Sciences Clinical Laboratory at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, part of Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services, one of the UK's largest pathology networks.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have specialist knowledge in Blood Sciences (Haematology, Blood Transfusion and/or Biochemistry), experience in laboratory operations, and strong leadership and communication skills to support and manage junior staff. You will also help maintain UKAS ISO 15189:2022 and MHRA accreditation through active participation in the laboratory's quality management system.

As the laboratory moves towards full multidisciplinary working, you will receive training across Haematology, Coagulation, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry, and will be expected to work across all disciplines. The laboratory is equipped with Abbott Alinity H & CI, ACL TOP 550 and Immucor NEO Iris analysers. Experience with these systems is desirable but not essential. The laboratory is ISO 15189:2022 and MHRA accredited and holds IBMS training status.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
