Biomedical Scientist | Spire Parkway Hospital | £36,000 plus enhancements

Spire Parkway Hospital is seeking an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our multi-disciplinary pathology team. Working within a modern laboratory environment, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate, timely diagnostic results that support exceptional patient care.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Processing and analysing patient samples to ensure accurate and timely results.
  • Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment in line with standard operating procedures.
  • Validating and authorising results in accordance with laboratory protocols.
  • Ensuring compliance with HCPC, UKAS and ISO15189 standards.
  • Participating in internal and external quality assurance programmes.
  • Investigating and resolving analytical and technical issues where required.
  • Maintaining accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Supporting the review and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Working collaboratively with clinicians, nurses and colleagues to deliver an efficient pathology service.
  • Contributing to service improvements and the ongoing development of the department.
  • Participating in late shifts, weekends and the on-call rota.

You will have:

  • HCPC registration with no restrictions to practise.
  • A degree in Biomedical Science or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Demonstrable post-registration experience.
  • Experience in Clinical Biochemistry preferred, with the option to train in Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Working Hours:

37.5 hours per week, working a variety of shifts between 8am and 8pm. The role includes participation in the weekend and on-call rota, with enhanced payments and time off in lieu where applicable.
