About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to join our Clinical Biochemistry team, supporting services across both hospital sites. This is a permanent, full-time position, primarily based at Bedford Hospital, with an expectation to work at the Luton & Dunstable site as required to meet service needs.
Following completion of training, the successful candidate will participate in the 24/7 shift rota, providing essential clinical biochemistry services to patients across the Trust.
Our department is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and professional practice. We hold UKAS accreditation and IBMS/HCPC training status, and are one of the few organisations accredited by the National School of Healthcare Science across Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Transfusion Science. This reflects our strong commitment to quality, training and ongoing professional development.
Join our forward-thinking team as we continue to expand on-site testing and integrate our services to improve patient care. If you are motivated, innovative and enthusiastic about contributing to high-quality, cutting-edge clinical science, we would be delighted to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
