A leading international intellectual property firm is looking to strengthen its established team with the appointment of a Part-Qualified Biotech Patent Attorney. The firm has a strong reputation within the life sciences and biotechnology space, working with a diverse range of innovative clients across the UK and internationally. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded practice with strong technical expertise and a supportive environment for continued professional development.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced Patent Attorneys on a broad range of high-quality biotechnology matters, gaining further exposure across drafting, prosecution and wider patent strategy. The firm is committed to developing its people and offers a clear route towards qualification and long-term progression within the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications
  • Advising clients on patent strategy and protection
  • Working on UK, European and international patent matters
  • Conducting patentability and prior art assessments
  • Supporting senior Attorneys on complex biotechnology matters
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider IP team
  • Continuing to develop technical and commercial expertise
  • Progressing towards full qualification as a Patent Attorney

Requirements

  • Part-qualified Patent Attorney with a biotechnology background
  • Strong academic background in biotechnology, biological sciences or a related discipline
  • Experience within a private practice or relevant in-house IP environment
  • Progress towards UK and/or European Patent Attorney qualification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Genuine interest in developing a long-term career within patent practice
  • Commercial awareness and a client-focused approach
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
