Job Description Summary

As a Blade Operator at Dowty, a GE Aerospace company, you will be responsible for operating specialized machinery to manufacture and finish high-quality propeller blades. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to strict safety and quality standards to ensure the production of critical aerospace components.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor various blade manufacturing processes, including but not limited to blade finishing equipment, paint and poly processes.
  • Load and unload finished blades, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
  • Perform routine machine adjustments and preventative maintenance as required.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify product specifications and quality.
  • Document production data, including quantities, defects, and process parameters, accurately and thoroughly.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and following Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient production environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize production processes and meet output targets.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in painting, or a related field is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, etc.).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, as required by production schedules.
  • Prior experience in the aerospace or automotive industry is an advantage.
