About The Role

This Block and Build Furnace role in Coventry supports heat exchanger core production within an engineering and manufacturing setting. Working 37.5 hours weekly over a 12-month contract, the successful candidate operates controlled atmosphere brazing and vacuum furnaces. Duties cover assembly, preparation, testing, inspection and machining of components, ensuring strict quality, safety and engineering standards are met. Supporting both production and prototype development, the post holder joins a skilled team at the Ansty site. Pay starts at £22.48 per hour, rising to £23.25 once trained. Applicants should demonstrate furnace operation experience, mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Block and Build General Operator to join a leading engineering and manufacturing environment in Ansty, Coventry. This role is responsible for the assembly, preparation, testing, inspection, and machining of heat exchanger cores used in high-performance engineering applications.

The successful candidate will work within a skilled production team, ensuring products meet strict quality, safety, and engineering standards while supporting both production and prototype development activities.

Main Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Operate Controlled Atmosphere Brazing Furnace
  • Operate Vacuum Furnace
  • Carry out Iconnell Tube Manipulation
  • Set up Kintex Machine
  • Machining of heat exchanger cores
  • General Assembly of heat exchanger cores
  • Operate Grit Blaster
  • Waxing of heat exchangers prior to machining
  • Set up tube manipulation bench
  • Ability to inspect components to current drawings
  • Development of prototype Assemblies
  • Air under water tasting of heat exchangers
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings
  • Carry out Frazing operations
  • Ability to train others
  • Adherence to company wide Health andamp; Safety procedures
  • Ability to read measuring equipment
  • Carry out process inspection

Essential Key Requirements

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, production, engineering, or assembly environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience carrying out component inspections and recording results accurately.
  • A proactive approach to Health andamp; Safety and quality standards.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Flexible approach to work and willingness to learn new processes and equipment.

Desirable

  • Experience within aerospace, automotive, defence, or precision engineering industries.
  • Previous brazing, furnace operation, machining, or heat exchanger assembly experience.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience training or mentoring colleagues.
  • Understanding of prototype or low-volume manufacturing environments.
