Can you spot a BMS opportunity, understand what the client actually needs, price the solution and then win the project?
We're working with an established BMS business looking for someone to take ownership of developing project opportunities across both their existing customer base and new relationships.
This isn't simply a case of being handed a quote and being told to go and sell it.
They want someone who understands BMS.
Someone who can sit in front of a customer, understand their building and controls requirements, identify where the opportunity is, develop the solution, put a commercially viable price around it and ultimately turn that conversation into revenue.
Projects range from approximately £20,000 through to major BMS schemes exceeding £1m, giving you the opportunity to build and manage a genuinely varied sales pipeline.
The Role
You'll work with an established client base while also having the freedom to develop opportunities through your own contacts and relationships within the industry.
You'll be responsible for identifying and pursuing new BMS project opportunities and taking them through the sales process.
Crucially, you'll also get involved in pricing the work.
Using established pricing tools and methodologies, you'll develop commercially viable proposals rather than simply passing everything over to an estimating team.
That means understanding the technical requirement, putting the right solution together and making sure what you're selling can actually be delivered.
Responsibilities Will Include:
- Developing BMS project opportunities across existing and new customers
- Building relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders
- Identifying upgrade, refurbishment and new project opportunities
- Managing opportunities from initial conversation through to order
- Understanding client requirements and developing appropriate BMS solutions
- Pricing projects using established pricing tools and methodologies
- Producing quotations and commercial proposals
- Managing a pipeline ranging from approximately £20k to £1m+ projects
- Negotiating commercial terms and closing opportunities
- Working closely with engineering and project teams to ensure sold projects can be successfully delivered
- Developing new relationships through your existing industry network
- Growing revenue while maintaining appropriate project margins
What We're Looking For
This role needs someone with enough technical BMS knowledge to have credible conversations with customers and understand what they're actually selling.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Good Trend and Tridium product knowledge is required.
You'll Ideally Have:
- BMS sales or business development experience
- Strong Trend knowledge
- Strong Tridium / Niagara knowledge
- Good technical understanding of BMS and building controls
- Experience identifying and developing project opportunities
- Experience pricing or estimating BMS projects
- Strong commercial awareness
- Ability to understand drawings, specifications and customer requirements
- Excellent client-facing and relationship-building skills
- Experience selling projects rather than purely maintenance contracts
- An established network within the BMS / building controls market would be advantageous
- Smart Buildings sales experience would be a significant advantage
You don't need to be someone who has spent their entire career in pure sales.
If you've come through the technical side of BMS, understand projects and pricing, have strong customer relationships and know you can turn opportunities into orders, we'd still be interested in talking.
Why This Role?
- Sell genuine BMS projects ranging from £20k to £1m+
- Work with an established client base rather than starting with a blank sheet of paper
- Freedom to develop business through your own industry relationships
- Own opportunities from identification through pricing and ultimately to order
- Combine technical BMS knowledge with commercial responsibility
- Strong Trend and Tridium focus
- Opportunity to sell into the growing Smart Buildings market
- Uncapped earning potential through a 1% sales bonus
- Earn £10,000 commission on a successfully delivered £1m project, subject to the required margin being achieved
- Join a business where you can directly influence revenue and growth
What You Get
- £60,000 basic salary
- £6,000 car allowance
- 1% sales bonus based on sale value, payable upon practical completion where the minimum project margin target has been achieved
- Business mileage paid at the government-approved mileage rate
- Salary sacrifice EV car scheme following successful completion of the three-month trial period
- 4% employer pension contribution if joining the company pension scheme
- Business-related train fares, parking, road tolls, congestion charges and reasonable associated expenses covered
- 25 days annual leave
- 3 days annual leave reserved for the Christmas / New Year period
- Additional day's annual leave for each five-year period of employment
- Vitality Healthcare package
Interested?
If you know BMS, understand Trend and Tridium and can take an opportunity from "there might be something here" through to a properly priced and successfully won project, this could be a very interesting move.
Whether you're already selling major BMS projects or you're a commercially minded BMS professional ready to take that next step, get in touch with VIGO Recruitment for a confidential conversation.
