BMS Commissioning Engineer – Data Centres | EcoStruxure

  • Salary: £75,000
  • Location: London
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid

I am looking for a technically strong BMS Commissioning Engineer to join our Data Centre Projects team. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with hands-on experience in Schneider Electric BMS / EcoStruxure who wants to work on technically challenging projects within critical environments. You’ll be responsible for commissioning, testing and delivering BMS installations from engineering through to final handover, working closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and clients to ensure systems are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard. This is a site-based role, so applicants must be located within comfortable travelling distance of Slough, West Drayton or Hayes.

As a BMS Commissioning Engineer, you’ll take ownership of the commissioning and technical delivery of BMS systems across a range of projects, from reviewing project documentation and checking installation quality through to controller commissioning, software verification, functional testing and final system handover. You’ll commission and coordinate BMS installations to agreed timescales, budgets and customer requirements, working closely with project teams to ensure systems are delivered correctly and efficiently. This will include testing BMS controllers, field devices, I/O, networks, graphics, alarms, trends, schedules and control strategies, as well as verifying that the BMS correctly controls and monitors associated mechanical plant. You’ll diagnose and resolve technical issues throughout the commissioning process, working systematically to identify whether problems relate to software, controller configuration, communications, field devices, wiring or mechanical plant. You’ll also contribute to project documentation, including points schedules, plant schedules, descriptions of operation, network documentation and BMS software, while supporting the successful delivery and handover of projects. The role will involve managing and delivering small to medium-sized projects, either independently or as part of a wider project team, with regular interaction with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and clients.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
