BMS & Smart Engineering Consultant

We are seeking to employ a BMS & Smart Engineering Consultant to work out of our award-winning London office.

Hilson Moran is a leading independent multidisciplinary consultancy for the built environment, providing a full range of engineering services, exciting and innovative design solutions on a full range of projects from our network of offices in the UK and internationally.

We are currently seeking a proactive and enthusiastic professional to join our expanding Smart Buildings Group.

About the Role

The role relates to the concept, design, procurement, and delivery of Building Management and Smart Systems in a wide variety of high-profile new-build, fit-out, and refurbishment projects, for a varied client base in diverse market sectors.

The role encompasses all stages of project delivery, from the design stages, through monitoring of the subsequent construction and commissioning phases, to ensure successful implementation of the BMS or Smart Building System. The role includes the preparation of technical specifications and drawings and will also involve some site-related activities, such as inspection and witness-testing of installed systems. Additionally, the role will involve business development and client relations.

Requirements

We’d like to hear from you if you have

  • Proven professional experience in the BMS industry, preferably as a BMS Consultant.
  • A strong BMS background, with experience in the integration and convergence of other systems such as Access, Security, Fire, and Client IT networks on both a masterplan and building level.
  • Understanding and/or experience with Smart Building Platforms and communication protocols.
  • Understanding and experience with IT networking and associated technologies.
  • A strong understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, and Building Services Systems.
  • A practical approach to the application of design standards and certifications during project design and delivery.
  • A strong desire to influence the drive for continuous improvement, with attention to detail.
  • Enthusiastic and proactive, with the ability to work alone on your own initiative in addition to being a team player.
  • Excellent communication skills to build and maintain relationships throughout the business, both internally and externally with an excellent customer focus.
  • Good understanding of sustainable building design, renewable, and low carbon technology.

Qualifications & Skills

The candidate will have relevant industry or engineering qualifications.

The candidate will ideally have a BSc in a related engineering discipline.
