BMS, Smart Technology and Controls Supervisor

Description
Join Bath Spa University's Estates team and play a vital role in maintaining and improving the electrical infrastructure across our diverse academic and residential estate.
This hands-on role offers a varied workload, from fault finding and testing to installations and emergency response, helping ensure a safe and reliable environment for students and staff.
About the Role
- Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across University properties.
- Undertake electrical testing and inspection in accordance with BS7671 requirements.
- Maintain and test emergency lighting, fire alarm, and generator systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults, control systems, motors, pumps, and HVAC-related equipment.
- Carry out electrical installations, modifications, and upgrades.
- Support the operation and maintenance of the University's electrical distribution infrastructure.
- Assist with Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
- Supervise and coordinate specialist contractors working on University sites.
- Support colleagues by sharing technical knowledge and best practice.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies to minimise disruption.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with health and safety requirements and safe systems of work.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with University stakeholders regarding maintenance activities.

About You
- Qualified electrician with relevant electrical apprenticeship, NVQ, or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant qualification in BMS/Controls, ideally Trend.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience in planned and reactive maintenance environments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Good understanding of electrical safety legislation and safe systems of work.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
- Competent IT skills for record keeping and communication.
- Positive, proactive, and customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience of generators, educational estates, or listed buildings would be advantageous.
Additional Information
Salary Grade 7 - Starting from £38,784 rising to £43,482 per annum
The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Special Conditions for this role:
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Ability to work across all Bath Spa University campuses.
- Participation in training and continued professional development as required.
- Occasional travel away from the University for training and business purposes.
- Participation in emergency response and out-of-hours support activities when required.
