Staffordshire County Council,

An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen to join the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Adult Safeguarding Partnership Board (SSASPB) as Business Manager.

This is a unique role for an ambitious and motivated individual who is passionate about safeguarding adults and improving outcomes for people at risk of abuse and neglect. Working at the heart of a well-established and forward-thinking multi-agency partnership, you will have the opportunity to influence strategic safeguarding priorities, drive continuous improvement, and make a tangible difference to the lives of adults across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

As Business Manager, you will play a pivotal leadership role in supporting the Board to deliver on its statutory responsibilities, strengthen partnership working, and demonstrate the impact of safeguarding activity across the area. This is a stimulating and varied position that offers both challenge and reward, providing the opportunity to work alongside senior leaders from across health, social care, policing, and other partner organisations to shape and develop safeguarding practice.

If you are passionate about protecting adults, thrive in a strategic partnership environment, and want a role where your contribution will have a lasting impact, we would love to hear from you.

This role is full time working 37 hours Monday to Friday 9-5pm. We will consider flexible working within this in line with the requirements of the safeguarding board activity. We operate flexible working arrangements between the office and home with some requirement for in-person meetings at other venues across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent.

Main Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Work closely with the Independent Chair of the safeguarding board, the key partner strategic safeguarding leads, and the chairs of the sub groups.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the safeguarding board meets its statutory duties and will manage the business support officer directing their work to ensure smooth running of all board activities.
  • Play an active role in the work of the board and attend relevant national and regional groups to promote and develop the work of the SSASPB.
  • Coordinate the board's response to Safeguarding Adult Reviews and play an essential role in monitoring any actions for the board or the partners that are identified following any reviews relevant to the board.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
