Could your finance and governance expertise help us reach more seriously ill children and their families?

Imagine This is looking for a Trustee with Finance & Governance expertise to join our Board.

When a child is seriously ill, the impact reaches far beyond their diagnosis. Fear, anxiety, isolation, and uncertainty can affect the whole family. Yet emotional wellbeing support can still be difficult to access when it is needed most.

At Imagine This, we want to change that. Our mission is simple but ambitious: Mental wellbeing for every seriously ill child. We are a growing national charity, commissioning and funding specialist wellbeing support through hospitals, hospices, charities, and community organisations across the UK.

As we grow, strong financial oversight and good governance matter more than ever.

We are looking for someone who can bring financial expertise, sound judgement, and constructive challenge to our Board. You will help us scrutinise financial performance, strengthen our approach to risk and governance, and make confident decisions about how we use our resources to achieve the greatest possible impact.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We'd particularly like to hear from people with experience in:

  • Finance, accountancy, or audit
  • Financial planning, forecasting, and reporting
  • Risk management and internal controls
  • Governance and compliance
  • Strategic planning and organisational growth

A professional accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA would be particularly valuable.

Previous trustee experience is welcome, but it isn't essential. We are interested in people who can bring their professional experience into a Board setting, ask good questions, and help us think carefully about the opportunities and risks that come with growth.
