Boat Sales Broker, Wargrave, Berkshire
Val Wyatt Marine is one of the Thames’ leading independent marinas, specialising in premium new & used boat sales and marina services.
We are currently seeking a passionate and proactive Boat Sales Broker to join our team.
This role would suit someone who enjoys meeting people, building trust and helping customers make confident buying decisions. Whilst proven sales experience is essential, a genuine enthusiasm for boats and boating is equally important.
Experience within the marine industry would be an advantage but is not essential.
As a family-owned business, relationships sit at the heart of everything we do. Many of our customers return to us time and time again, and much of our business comes through recommendation. We are looking for someone who enjoys developing long-term customer relationships rather than simply chasing the next sale.
The Role:
You will be responsible for selling both new and used boats, supporting customers throughout their ownership journey and managing brokerage instructions from vendors looking to sell their craft.
The role combines customer relationship management, sales, marketing, brokerage, administration and boat presentation. You’ll also help support our community of mooring holders and visitors to the marina.
No two days are quite the same, and the role offers plenty of variety and opportunity to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generating and managing enquiries from prospective boat buyers
- Conducting boat viewings, demonstrations, river trials and handovers
- Following up leads and managing a sales pipeline of new and used boats
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships
- Obtaining brokerage instructions from vendors wishing to sell their boats
- Advising vendors on pricing and presentation
- Preparing listing agreements, boat specifications and marketing materials, including photographs and videos
- Managing sales transactions from enquiry through to completion
- Facilitating negotiations between buyers and sellers
- Ensuring sales boats are presented to a high standard
- Participating in boat shows and sales events
- Working closely with the marina team and various marine partners
- Delivering excellent customer service before, during and after every sale

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
