Boatyard Supervisor

Hayling Island | £34,000 per annum
Full-time
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

We’re recruiting an experienced Boat Yard Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operation of a busy and established boatyard in Hayling Island. Boat lifting experience essential.

This role is ideally suited to someone with hands-on boatyard or marina experience who understands the practical demands of working around boats, customers, contractors and marine operations. You’ll combine your practical boating knowledge with team leadership, customer service and operational management to ensure the boatyard runs safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.

About the role

As Boat Yard Supervisor, you’ll take ownership of the daily running of the boatyard and become a key member of the marina leadership team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Boat lifting Experience - ESSENTIAL
  • Managing and coordinating the team
  • Managing the day-to-day operation of the boatyard
  • Coordinating and supervising boatyard activities to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
  • Leading, motivating and developing the boatyard team
  • Supporting the wider marina team and contributing to overall site operations
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with boat owners, berth holders and tenants
  • Regularly communicating with customers, understanding their requirements and resolving operational issues
  • Supporting the development of boatyard services and marine-related revenue opportunities
  • Helping to maximise the use of available boatyard space through effective planning and zoning
  • Liaising with marine contractors, suppliers and external organisations
  • Promoting a strong health & safety culture across the boatyard

The experience we’re ideally looking for is Previous boatyard or marina experience is highly desirable, and we’re particularly interested in candidates who have worked directly within a working boatyard environment.

We’re looking for someone with a genuine understanding of boatyard operations, boat handling, marine environments and the practical requirements of looking after boats and their owners.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Boat Lifting experience - ESSENTIAL
  • Previous boatyard or marina experience
  • Experience managing / supervising a team in a similar setting
  • Experience working around boats, marine equipment and yard operations
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Good awareness of marine and workplace health & safety
  • Confidence dealing with boat owners, contractors and suppliers
  • General maintenance skills – advantageous
  • Competent swimmer – essential
