Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading biomass company in the UK to recruit a Boiler Operator to join its Biomass site in Lincoln.
The Boiler Operator role comes with a starting salary of up to £45,000 + benefits and continued training opportunities.

Responsibilities and duties of the Boiler Operator role
Reporting To The Plant Manager You Will
- Operate and monitor the biomass plant from the Control Room using the site’s SCADA control system.
- Ensure the safe, efficient and reliable operation of boilers, superheaters and associated process equipment.
- Carry out routine plant inspections and respond to operational issues to maximise plant availability.
- Monitor plant performance and make operational adjustments to optimise efficiency.
- Perform water quality testing and adjust chemical dosing to maintain boiler performance.
- Support environmental compliance by ensuring plant operations meet all regulatory and permit requirements.
- Act as an Authorised Person, supporting permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out and safe systems of work.
- Report plant defects and work closely with the maintenance team to resolve equipment issues.
- Maintain accurate operational records, logs and shift handovers.
- Work safely as part of a 24/7 shift team, promoting high standards of health, safety and housekeeping.

Professional Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- NVQ Level 4, ONC, HNC or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
- Previous experience operating boilers or process plant within Biomass, Power Generation, Energy from Waste, Recycling, Waste Management or a similar industrial environment.
- Experience operating plant via a DCS or SCADA control system.
- BOAS qualification or equivalent boiler operating experience.
- Knowledge of permit-to-work systems, plant safety procedures and water treatment processes. WAMITAB qualifications would be advantageous.
- Willingness to work a shift pattern that includes Days and Night shifts

Salary and benefits of the Boiler Operator role
- Salary of £42,000 – £45,000
