Patient Booker - Temporary Role | Preston
Location: Preston
Contract: Temporary (3-6 months, with potential for extension)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected client within the healthcare sector for a Patient Booker to join their busy and supportive team in Preston. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and customer-focused individual looking to gain valuable experience within a professional medical environment while making a positive impact on patient care.
As a Patient Booker, you will play a key role in ensuring patients receive a seamless and efficient service by coordinating appointments, maintaining accurate records, and providing outstanding support throughout the booking process.
Key Responsibilities
As The Patient Booker, Your Duties Will Include
- Contacting patients by telephone to arrange, confirm, amend, or reschedule appointments.
- Managing appointment diaries and clinic schedules to ensure appointments are allocated effectively.
- Acting as the first point of contact for patient enquiries, delivering a professional, friendly, and empathetic service.
- Updating and maintaining accurate patient information and appointment records on internal systems.
- Liaising with clinicians, healthcare professionals, and internal departments to coordinate appointments and resolve scheduling issues.
- Sending appointment confirmations and communicating any changes to patients in a timely manner.
- Monitoring appointment availability, cancellations, and non-attendance to help maximise clinic capacity.
- Ensuring all patient information is handled confidentially and in line with GDPR and organisational policies.
- Completing a range of administrative tasks including data entry, document management, correspondence, and record keeping.
- Supporting the wider administration team with ad-hoc duties as required.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Excellent communication skills and a confident, professional telephone manner.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Previous experience within administration, customer service, scheduling, or a healthcare environment (desirable).
- Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computerised systems.
- A professional, patient-focused approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data protection.

Additional Requirements
- A valid DBS check is required for this position.
- Candidates must be available to commit to a temporary assignment of 3-6 months.
