Company Description

Hawkins Priday is an experienced firm of Chartered Accountants located in Hereford city centre, supporting clients with both business and personal finances. The firm provides the traditional accountancy services but with a modern, forward-looking approach. Known locally for professionalism, efficiency, and strong personal service, Hawkins Priday builds long-term relationships with businesses of all sizes. Clients benefit from flexible, comprehensive support and access to a friendly team with extensive expertise.

Role Description

We are looking for a bookkeeper to oversee and take ownership of our bookkeeping function. You would run client bookkeeping and VAT, set the standard for how it is done, and be the person the firm relies on to keep it accurate and on time. There is a real volume of processing involved, invoices and transactions included, and our tools are designed to make that efficient. This is your area to own and lead, with the full support of the wider team and management behind you.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Day to day, you will:

  • Prepare, check and submit VAT returns across a range of schemes
  • Reconcile bank and control accounts and resolve queries at source
  • Act as a first point of contact for client bookkeeping and VAT questions
  • Keep records clean and review ready so accounts and tax work run smoothly
  • Set and maintain the standard for how bookkeeping is run across the firm
