Start and finish times are flexible but to support our clients we need the core hours of 10am to 4pm to be covered Monday to Friday.

We’re looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team and ensure our clients have clean, accurate financial records they can rely on. About the Role
As a Bookkeeper, you’ll be the financial backbone for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all transactions. You’ll manage bank reconciliations, process invoices and payments, prepare VAT returns, and maintain the financial records that our Client Managers and Finance Directors rely on to deliver advisory services. Your focus will be on accuracy, completeness, and timeliness – delivering clean books that clients can trust. You’ll work within our digital first systems, supporting clients across professional services, tech/SaaS, creative/agency, and other sectors. Moreover, you will become a trusted partner to our clients bringing a caring and responsive approach to the working relationship. You’ll be a key part of our team and champion our values:

Key Responsibilities
Transaction Processing & Bank Management
- Record all business transactions accurately and timely in cloud accounting systems (primarily Xero)
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and identify and resolve discrepancies
- Process invoices, purchase orders, and payments in line with client approval workflows
- Manage client credit card and expense claims processing
VAT & Compliance Support
- Prepare and review VAT returns in line with submission deadlines
- Ensure VAT is correctly coded across all transactions
- Support clients with VAT queries and guidance on coding
- Help maintain accurate records for audit purposes
Accounts Payable & Expense Management
- Record and process employee expenses and mileage claims
- Manage accounts payable, including reviewing and coding supplier invoices
- Prepare and process payment runs to suppliers in line with client approvals
- Monitor payment terms and chase outstanding supplier invoices where needed
Financial Record Keeping & Quality Control
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts (bank, credit cards, loans, debtors, creditors)
- Prepare client management accounts and supporting schedules
- Identify and flag unusual or suspicious transactions to senior team members
- Maintain organised, accurate financial records and audit trails
- Liaise with the Client Manager team on any anomalies or issues requiring escalation

Client Support
- Monitor and respond to client emails in a timely manner
- Respond to client queries on their financial records and transactions
- Support clients with data input, coding, and use of cloud accounting software
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients whilst upholding data integrity
Client Invoicing and Credit Control
- Prepare and send client invoices
- Respond to client queries on their sales invoices
- Have the skills and tenacity to follow up unpaid invoices
Skills & Qualifications
Need to have
- Experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounts/finance role (minimum 2–3 years)
- Strong proficiency in cloud accounting software, particularly Xero
- Excellent knowledge of VAT and basic payroll processes
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills – able to explain financial matters clearly to clients
- Proficiency in Excel and confidence with reporting tools
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and ask for help when needed
Nice to have
- Experience with Dext or other accounts payable management software
- Knowledge of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) (good to have but not essential)
- Experience supporting multiple clients across different sectors
- Bookkeeping qualification (AAT or similar)
