Company Description

Role Description

This is a part-time, 1 day per week, on-site Bookkeeper role based in Glasgow. The Bookkeeper will manage day-to-day financial records, including posting and reconciling journal entries, maintaining ledgers, and ensuring accurate documentation of income and expenses.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and reviewing basic financial reports
  • Supporting month-end and year-end processes
  • Assisting with budgeting and cash flow tracking
  • Using accounting software to process invoices, payments, and receipts
  • Helping to monitor accounts payable and receivable
  • Supporting the optometry team with financial queries
  • Maintaining compliance with relevant regulations
  • Contributing to efficient practice operations

Qualifications

  • Strong bookkeeping skills, including accurate data entry, ledger maintenance, and journal entries (Accounting)
  • Ability to prepare, interpret, and support the production of financial statements and other financial reports
  • Proficiency with accounting software and related financial tools; comfort with learning new systems
  • Solid understanding of finance fundamentals, such as budgeting, cash flow, and basic financial analysis
  • Relevant experience in a bookkeeping or accounting support role; experience in healthcare or retail environments is an advantage
  • Excellent attention to detail, numeracy, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff
  • Vocational qualification or coursework in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance is beneficial
