BOOKKEEPER
LOCATION
Fully remote after a two-week onsite induction in Horsham, West Sussex. The team meets in the Horsham office once a quarter.
PAY
£14.36 to £16.41 per hour depending on experience (£28,000 to £32,000 per annum at 37.5 hours)
CONTRACT
Permanent, full-time. Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm.
REPORTING TO
Client Manager (client side)
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Bookkeeper manages day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients in Xero and QuickBooks Online, from invoice processing and reconciliations through to VAT support, payroll assistance and credit control.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process purchase and sales invoices and maintain accurate records in Xero and QuickBooks Online.
- Manage client inboxes and financial documentation and respond to client, supplier and internal queries.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards and payment platforms, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare supplier payment schedules and support client cash flow management.
- Administer Dext, process expenses and ensure compliance with HMRC guidelines.
- Assist with payroll processing, including timesheets, pension administration and starter and leaver documentation.
- Support VAT returns, management accounts preparation and year-end requirements.
- Monitor debtor reports, chase outstanding payments and help clients improve credit control.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Previous bookkeeping experience.
- Strong working knowledge of VAT rules and an understanding of payroll processes.
- Excellent organisation, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Confidence managing client relationships and delivering a consistent service.
- A stable home internet connection and a quiet workspace.
- Ability to attend the Horsham office for the two-week induction and quarterly team days.
- The right to work in the UK.

DESIRABLE
- Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice.
- AAT Level 2 or Level 3.
- Experience with Xero, QuickBooks Online and Dext.
