A growing and highly regarded accountancy and business advisory practice based in Greater Manchester is looking to appoint an experienced Bookkeeper to join its expanding team.
Supporting a diverse portfolio of SME clients across a range of sectors, the business provides outsourced bookkeeping, management accounting and finance support services. With continued growth and investment in its people, this is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative organisation where you can build long-term relationships with clients and make a genuine difference to their businesses.
Your new role
As a Bookkeeper, you will manage your own portfolio of clients and become a trusted extension of their finance function. This is a varied, hands-on position where you will work closely with business owners and operational stakeholders, providing accurate financial information and helping clients gain a clearer understanding of their finances.
For some clients, you will act as their primary finance contact, building strong relationships and supporting them with day-to-day financial management and decision-making.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing bookkeeping activities for a portfolio of SME clients.
- Completing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
- Supporting clients with cash flow management and financial administration.
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC deadlines and statutory requirements.
- Building strong client relationships and acting as a trusted point of contact.
- Using cloud-based accounting systems including Xero and Sage.

This role offers the opportunity to work across a wide range of businesses, giving you exposure to different industries and the chance to play a key role in helping clients achieve their goals.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have proven bookkeeping experience and enjoy building relationships with a variety of clients. You will ideally have:
- AAT qualification or be qualified by experience.
- At least three years' experience in a bookkeeping position.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero and Sage.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with clients.
- Good commercial awareness and the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team environment.
