BOOKKEEPER - NOT-FOR-PROFIT SERVICES
SURREY - PART TIME – PERMANENT - MULTI-ENTITY ROLE IN A SMALL, HANDS-ON FINANCE TEAM
£35,000-£38,000 + bonus
Are you a Bookkeeper/Assistant Accountant who likes owning the detail across more than one set of books?
Do you thrive in a small finance team where people pitch in rather than stick to job titles?
We Do Group are hiring a Bookkeeper for a growing services business working in the not-for-profit sector. The finance function looks after eight limited companies that operate together, and this role takes ownership of the books for four of them.
It is a genuinely hands-on role with real ownership of the detail. You will run the day-to-day processing, keep on top of partially exempt VAT, and review the nominal ledger at each period end so the numbers are clean before they go across for management accounts. The finance team is small, experienced and collaborative - if one person is under pressure, the others step in.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
