About Us
We are a growing and friendly accountancy practice providing bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, tax, and accounting services to a diverse portfolio of clients across a range of industries. We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented, and motivated Bookkeeper / Accounting Support Officer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for the role to become permanent.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will support our accounting team by maintaining accurate financial records, carrying out reconciliations, assisting with HMRC and Companies House administration, and providing general client secretarial support.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing sales and purchase invoices using accounting software.
- Performing bank reconciliations and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Reconciling debtor and creditor ledgers.
- Assisting with VAT return preparation and related bookkeeping tasks.
- Liaising with HMRC regarding Self Assessment, VAT agent authorisations, and other client-related matters.
- Maintaining accurate client records and ensuring statutory and administrative requirements are met.
- Providing general secretarial and administrative support to clients.
- Supporting the accountants and wider team with day-to-day practice administration.
- Assisting with Companies House filings and administration, including director appointments and resignations, shareholder updates, confirmation statements, registered office changes, maintenance of statutory records, and other company secretarial matters.
- Supporting client onboarding procedures, including obtaining identification documents and maintaining compliance records.

Requirements
Essential
- AAT Level 3 qualification (or currently studying towards AAT Level 3).
- Fluency in both English and Italian (written and spoken).
- Strong numerical, organisational, and administrative skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple deadlines.
- A positive, professional, and proactive attitude.

Desirable
- Previous experience in an accountancy practice or bookkeeping role.
- Familiarity with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Dext, or similar platforms.
- Experience dealing with HMRC or Companies House administration.
