Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Bookkeeper / Accounts role based in Southend-On-Sea. The role involves managing day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including recording financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, and posting journal entries in line with accounting standards. The Bookkeeper / Accounts professional will prepare and assist with financial statements, reconcile bank accounts, monitor accounts payable and receivable, and support month-end and year-end processes. The role also includes working with accounting software to ensure accurate data entry, generating financial reports, and supporting the finance team with administrative and compliance-related tasks. Collaboration with operations and management will be required to provide clear financial information that supports effective business decision-making.

Qualifications

- Strong bookkeeping and finance skills, including experience with journal entries and day-to-day transactional accounting.
- Ability to prepare, interpret, and support the production of financial statements and related financial reports.
- Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., ERP/accounting systems, Excel) for accurate data entry and reconciliation. Knowledge of Quickbooks is a MUST!
- Attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and the ability to work with high volumes of data while maintaining accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with finance colleagues and operational teams.
- Previous experience in a bookkeeping or accounts role, ideally within logistics, transport, or a similar industry, is advantageous.
- Relevant qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field (e.g., AAT or equivalent) is preferred.
