Bookkeeper — Ol Gaboli Camp
Laikipia, Kenya | Full-time, live-in
About the Role
Ol Gaboli is looking for a full-time Bookkeeper to manage the camp's day-to-day accounts. This is a hands-on role covering petty cash, supplier invoices, bank and M-Pesa reconciliation, and maintaining accurate records in QuickBooks. The successful candidate will be based on-site full time and work closely with the heads of departments and management team to keep camp finances accurate and up to date.
Location & Living Arrangement
Ol Gaboli, Laikipia — a remote camp location approximately 2 hours from Nanyuki. This is a live-in position: the successful candidate will be based at the camp full time, with staff accommodation and meals provided. This is not a role suited to daily commuting, and applicants should be comfortable with remote camp life.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and reconcile petty cash on a daily/weekly basis
- Maintain accurate day-to-day bookkeeping entries
- Process supplier invoices, receipts and purchase orders
- Reconcile bank, Tende and M-Pesa transactions with guest and supplier invoices
- Maintain financial records in QuickBooks
- Prepare basic financial reports for camp management
- Liaise with the head of departments and management team on the purchase order process and flag discrepancies
- Maintain organised, audit-ready filing of receipts and supporting documents
- Work with the company accountants for statutory filings and taxes
- Support with other ad-hoc administrative tasks as required (e.g., stock taking, quotation gathering)

Required Qualifications & Experience
- 2-3 years accounting and bookkeeping experience, preferably in the hospitality industry
- Hands-on experience using QuickBooks
- Experience handling petty cash and cash reconciliation
- Accounting/bookkeeping qualification (e.g. Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance Business Administration or CPA Part II/III) preferred

Language & Communication
- Very strong written and spoken English is essential
- Maasai language skills are a strong advantage

- High personal integrity and trustworthiness, given cash-handling responsibilities
- Comfortable living and working in a remote camp setting
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good interpersonal skills for working within a small camp team
Working Conditions & Compensation
- Full-time, live-in position based at Ol Gaboli camp
- Staff accommodation and meals provided
- 21 days paid annual leave
