TPF Recruitment is supporting a highly regarded firm of Chartered Accountants in Faversham with the recruitment of a Bookkeeper / Management Accounts Assistant to join their growing team.
This is a particularly varied opportunity that would suit someone who enjoys bookkeeping and management accounts work but is also keen to take on wider responsibilities within a modern and forward-thinking accountancy practice.
You will work closely with a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, providing day-to-day bookkeeping and management accounting support, while also playing an important role in client onboarding and the smooth running of the firm's internal systems and processes.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Bookkeeping for a varied portfolio of clients
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Maintaining accurate accounting records using cloud-based software
- Liaising directly with clients and responding to day-to-day queries
- Supporting the onboarding of new clients into the practice
- Setting up and maintaining client records within the firm's practice management system
- Ensuring client information and internal systems remain accurate and up to date
- Supporting colleagues across other areas of the practice where required
- Helping to improve internal processes and ensure the efficient flow of information across the business

Requirements
The Successful Candidate
You may be AAT qualified, studying towards AAT, qualified by experience, or simply have a strong background in bookkeeping within an accountancy practice.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice
- Experience preparing VAT returns
- Some exposure to management accounts would be advantageous
- Good knowledge of cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Confidence communicating directly with clients
- Good IT and systems skills
- A proactive approach and willingness to get involved across different areas of the business

Salary: £28,000 to £38,000, dependent on experience and background.
