MF Sports is a fast-moving, London-based sports & event Production Company. We deliver high-profile international events, manage complex operational budgets, and work with partners across media, venues, athletes, and production teams. Our internal finance function is the backbone of this operation — and we’re expanding it.

Role Description

The Bookkeeper is a full-time, on-site role based in London, responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for MF Sports. Day-to-day tasks include recording and reconciling transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing and posting journal entries, and assisting with month-end and year-end closings. The role also involves supporting the preparation of financial statements, monitoring cash flow, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and relevant accounting standards. The Bookkeeper will collaborate closely with management and external accountants, provide regular financial reports, and help improve financial processes and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day accounting: Posting transactions, maintaining ledgers, ensuring accuracy
  • Accounts receivable: Creating outgoing invoices, monitoring payments, coordinating with project managers
  • Contract review: Checking commercial terms, payment schedules, compliance
  • Budget management: Planning, tracking, variance analysis, forecasting and working hand-in-hand with the Event Team
  • Payment processing: Preparing and executing payments, supplier coordination
  • Monthly closing: Reconciliations, accruals, reporting
  • Compliance checks: Reviewing incoming invoices for legal and tax conformity
  • Dunning & collections: Monitoring outstanding receivables, issuing reminders
  • Travel & expense management: Reviewing and posting travel claims and staff expenses
  • Account reconciliations: Bank, supplier, customer, intercompany
  • Coordination with external accountants: Supporting tax advisors and auditors
  • Year-end preparation: Documentation, schedules, reconciliations
  • Event-specific finance tasks: Production budgets, crew cost tracking, sponsorship settlements, international vendor handling

Your Profile

  • Proven experience as an internal accountant or controller, ideally in the event, production, or entertainment sector
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP, accounting workflows, and financial controls
  • High proficiency in Excel and comfort with digital tools
  • Exceptional accuracy, reliability, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Advantageous: experience with Xero
  • Must be able to work 4 days per week on-site in our London office
