About The Role
My client, a growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice, is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join their expanding team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned bookkeeping professional to take ownership of a diverse client portfolio, build and maintain strong client relationships, and support the development of junior team members within a modern and dynamic practice environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial records, contributing to the overall success and growth of the firm.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years' hands-on bookkeeping experience, preferably within a UK accountancy practice managing multiple clients. AAT Level 4 qualification is desirable, demonstrating a strong foundation in accounting principles. Proficiency in cloud accounting software, particularly Xero, is essential, with additional experience in Sage, QuickBooks, or other software integrations considered advantageous. Strong VAT knowledge, experience preparing VAT returns, and expertise in balance sheet reconciliations are crucial. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication abilities are also required to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities
The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing day-to-day bookkeeping activities across a varied client portfolio. Key duties include maintaining accurate financial records through journals, reconciliations, and trial balances, as well as preparing and reviewing VAT returns. The role involves completing balance sheet reconciliations for bank, VAT, payroll, CIS, intercompany, and other accounts, ensuring compliance and accuracy. Additionally, the candidate will process bills, expenses, supplier payments, and manage credit control processes. Supporting the preparation of year-end accounts, assisting with software integrations, and resolving client queries are integral parts of the role. Building strong client relationships by providing proactive, high-quality service and supporting junior team members through knowledge sharing and mentorship are also essential responsibilities.
