About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our client's team in Birmingham. This is a hybrid working role offering a salary range of 30,000 to 35,000 per annum, with a permanent contract. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day bookkeeping activities, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. This position provides an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid background in bookkeeping and accounting to contribute meaningfully within a dynamic and growing business environment.

- Previous experience working as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounts-focused role
- Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles
- Proficiency in managing purchase and sales ledgers
- Experience in bank reconciliations and preparing VAT returns
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks
- Excellent Excel skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently under pressure
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of bookkeeping and financial tasks, including:
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring bookkeeping processes are correctly followed
- Managing accounts payable and ensuring suppliers are paid promptly
- Overseeing sales ledger activities and maintaining customer account balances
- Completing bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations regularly
- Processing employee expenses and company card transactions efficiently
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Assisting with month-end close activities to ensure timely reporting
- Posting journals and maintaining comprehensive accounting records
- Monitoring cash flow and supporting financial planning and analysis
- Liaising with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to resolve finance-related queries
- Supporting initiatives to improve financial controls and streamline processes
