About The Role

The Bookkeeper position at Gleeson Recruitment Group offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing organization in a pivotal finance role.   • Previous experience working as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounts-focused position
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles
  • Confidence in managing both purchase and sales ledgers
  • Proven experience in bank reconciliations and VAT return submissions
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks
  • Excellent Excel skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently under pressure

Preferred qualifications or additional experience include studying towards or being AAT qualified, previous exposure to SME environments, and familiarity with month-end accounting procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records and bookkeeping processes
  • Managing accounts payable, ensuring suppliers are paid promptly and accurately
  • Overseeing sales ledger activities and monitoring customer account balances
  • Completing bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure data integrity
  • Processing employee expenses and company card transactions efficiently
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Supporting month-end close activities, including journal postings and financial reporting
  • Maintaining comprehensive accounting records and supporting audits as required
  • Monitoring cash flow and assisting in financial planning and forecasting
  • Liaising with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to resolve finance-related queries
  • Supporting continuous improvements to financial controls, processes, and systems
