Description

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with bookkeeping and VAT experience who enjoys working as part of a small, focused team. Initially, you will work closely with the bookkeeping manager, assisting with the preparation of clients’ bookkeeping records, VAT return preparation and related administration. In the longer term, there is scope for progression as the role develops and the department continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns for clients.
  • Assisting with client bookkeeping and maintaining accurate accounting records.
  • Supporting the bookkeeping manager with the organisation and workflow of the department.
  • Liaising with clients to obtain records, answer queries, and resolve bookkeeping or VAT matters.
  • Reviewing bookkeeping information for accuracy and completeness before VAT returns are finalised.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant VAT deadlines and ensuring work is completed on time.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience in bookkeeping, VAT return preparation, or working in an accountancy practice would be beneficial.
  • Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Confident communication skills when dealing with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise work in a busy office environment.
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping or accounting software would be useful.
  • A positive, practical attitude and willingness to learn.
