About The Role

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our client’s team on a temporary basis in Wolverhampton. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a professional with a solid background in financial record-keeping and accounting processes to contribute to the smooth financial operations of a dynamic organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing transactional data, and supporting various accounting functions to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and company policies. This position requires a proactive individual with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will possess a relevant qualification in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, such as AAT, ACCA, or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a similar bookkeeping role, particularly within a UK-based organization, is essential.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software (Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks) is required.
  • Strong understanding of VAT regulations, payroll processing, and financial reporting standards is highly desirable.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills, coupled with the ability to handle confidential information professionally, are crucial for success in this role.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are also important.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Processing purchase and sales invoices, credit notes, and expense claims.
  • Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure timely payments and collections.
  • Performing daily bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies to maintain accurate cash flow records.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns in accordance with HMRC regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Processing payroll and maintaining employee payroll records where required, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Monitoring cash flow and assisting with budget management to support financial planning.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior management review.
  • Maintaining the general ledger and ensuring all accounting records are current and accurate.
  • Liaising with suppliers, customers, and external accountants to resolve financial queries efficiently.
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end financial procedures to facilitate smooth reporting cycles.
  • Ensuring adherence to company financial policies and relevant accounting regulations.
  • Using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks to manage financial data effectively.
  • Handling confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion at all times.
