Requirements
Stepping up as a Bosun requires a hands-on deckhand who knows the ropes and takes pride in shipshape upkeep. As a dedicated Bosun, you will ensure the vessel is always ready to weather any storm.
- Tackling daily deck maintenance like chipping, painting, and rust prevention to keep the hull and superstructure shipshape.
- Managing mooring operations and handling heavy lines safely during port arrivals and departures while coordinating the deck crew.
- Embracing onboard training and career development pathways to grow further into maritime leadership while maintaining top seamanship standards.
- Holding an STCW II/5 Able Seafarer Deck qualification alongside a valid STCW I/9 Medical Seafarer MLC.
- Possessing STCW VI/1 Basic Safety Training (covering VI/1-1 Personal Survival Techniques, VI/1-2 Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, VI/1-3 Elementary First Aid, and VI/1-4 Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities).
- Certified in STCW VI/2 Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats.
- Trained in STCW VI/6-2 Designated Security Duties.
