DXC Technology is a Fortune 500 company with over 40 years' presence in the UK. Our Aerospace and Defence Hub in Farnborough delivers critical boundary security and managed services protecting UK defence networks at the organisation perimeter.
About the Role
The Boundary Managed Service Lead oversees the design, implementation and ongoing management of boundary security and managed services protecting defence organisations' network perimeters. You will manage boundary security operations, lead service delivery teams, ensure SLA compliance, and maintain the security posture of critical defence network boundaries. This role requires deep expertise in boundary security technologies, managed service delivery and defence security protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Boundary Service Management & Delivery
- Oversee end-to-end boundary managed service delivery including design, implementation and operations
- Manage boundary security SLAs, ensuring 100% compliance with availability, performance and security targets
- Lead boundary security operations team, ensuring round-the-clock monitoring and threat detection
- Manage boundary service P&L and resource allocation across multiple customer accounts
- Establish and maintain boundary service quality standards and operational procedures
Boundary Architecture & Security
- Design and implement boundary security architectures including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention and DDoS protection
- Architect boundary security solutions aligned with MOD security requirements and defence standards
- Design boundary traffic inspection, content filtering and advanced threat protection
- Lead boundary security assessments and vulnerability remediation
- Implement MOD-compliant boundary configurations and security baselines
Incident Management & Threat Response
- Lead boundary security incident detection, investigation and response
- Manage security alerts, anomaly investigation and threat escalation
- Coordinate incident response across boundary security team and customer security teams
- Conduct post-incident reviews and implement preventative measures
- Maintain security event logs and provide compliance reporting to MOD
Technology & Service Development
- Evaluate and implement boundary security technologies and tools
- Design automation and orchestration for boundary security operations
- Lead service improvements and operational efficiency initiatives
- Manage technology refresh and boundary appliance upgrades
- Develop and implement boundary security monitoring and reporting dashboards

Team Leadership & Customer Management
- Lead and develop boundary security operations teams
- Manage customer relationships and provide executive-level reporting on boundary security posture
- Conduct customer reviews and communicate security recommendations
- Identify service expansion opportunities and support account growth
Compliance & Security Governance
- Ensure boundary services maintain compliance with MOD security standards and regulatory requirements
- Implement and maintain security event logging and audit capabilities
- Support security compliance assessments and third-party audits
- Manage personnel vetting compliance for boundary security team
Essential Requirements
Security Clearance
- Must hold DV clearance - Essential
- 10 years continuous UK residency required
Experience & Expertise
- Minimum 10 years' boundary security or network security experience
- Minimum 4 years managing boundary security operations or managed security services
- Strong background in defence, aerospace or government security programmes
- Demonstrated expertise with boundary security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, DDoS protection)
- Track record of managing security operations teams and delivering managed services
Technical Knowledge
- Expert-level knowledge of firewall technologies, intrusion detection/prevention systems and DDoS mitigation
- Strong understanding of network security architecture and boundary security design
- Proficiency in security incident investigation and threat analysis
- Knowledge of security event management, SIEM and log analysis
- Understanding of vulnerability assessment and remediation processes
- Familiarity with MOD security requirements, Classification Guides and defence standards
- Knowledge of managed service delivery models and SLA management

Desirable Requirements
- Experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco or equivalent enterprise firewalls
- Experience with DDoS protection and advanced threat protection platforms
- CISSP or CCNP Security certification
- Armed Forces or military operations background
- Experience managing high-security managed services contracts
